About Us

Sunday Morning is an experience of Coffee Culture. This experience requires three things: Authenticity at our core, Superior Roasting Techniques, and commitment to Quality and Community.

Authenticity at Our Core: At Sunday Morning Coffee, our mission is to earn your trust with the very best coffee, delivered timely and fresh. It's our top priority to source the highest quality coffee beans from the most responsible farmers around the globe. We deeply value the confidence our customers place in us and are committed to becoming your trusted coffee source.

Our Journey: Located in the Maryland-Washington, D.C.-Virginia area, Sunday Morning Coffee was founded by Savannah D. Mitchell. With over 25 years of studying, discovering, testing, roasting, and tasting coffees from around the world, Savannah noticed something uniquely special about her Sunday morning cup of coffee. Driven by a desire to share this unique Sunday morning experience with everyone, she traveled domestically and internationally, sourcing the most exceptional coffee beans that ultimately launched Sunday Morning Coffee. In 2020, after receiving a call from her then-employer informing her that her job had been abolished, Savannah seized the moment. By the end of that day, she had fully registered her business and applied for three different certifications. The journey had truly begun.

Superior Roasting Techniques: Our artisan coffees are freshly roasted using 100% Arabica beans, specially heated to release optimal flavor compounds for an unparalleled palate experience. To preserve the beans' highest quality, our Roast Master methodically processes and prepares each batch according to their country of origin, ensuring the most authentic and freshest coffee tasting experience. We offer a variety of roast levels— light, medium-light, medium, medium-dark, and dark roasts. Our roasting team begins the roasting process only after you place your order, guaranteeing the freshest cup of coffee every time.

Commitment to Quality and Community: At Sunday Morning Coffee, we believe in more than just great coffee. Our journey is rooted in community and the pursuit of excellence. We are proud to be nationally certified by WBENC, NMSDC, and the US Black Chamber of Commerce, with designations as MBE/WBE/DBE/SBE. In less than two years, we became suppliers for Staples, Sodexo, Sysco, and Walmart, demonstrating our unwavering commitment to quality and service.

We are thrilled to welcome you to the Sunday Morning Coffee family. Let’s brew memories together, one exceptional cup at a time.

Our Farmers are like Family

A dark, rich brew represents careful hands plucking coffee berries and removing plush pulp to reveal green coffee beans. It’s a product of the scenic mountains and lush forests of places like Ethiopia, Jamaica, and South America. It’s a commitment to preserving the traditions and family life of many remote communities. There are over 25 million families globally who rely on their coffee farms to survive. For many of these growers, the coffee business is not just a career choice, but a family tradition – a heritage that is passed down through the generations.
For these families, there is a lot of hard work involved in getting quality beans into the hands of roasters such as Sunday Morning. The coffee bean itself is actually the seed from a fruit (also called berries), which grows in clusters on the coffee tree. These trees usually only produce one harvest a year, and when the berries ripen, they do so unevenly. It is for this reason that farmers must venture through the coffee fields on foot with baskets to pick the bright red, fully ripened berries by hand – a labor of love!  Regardless of their profits, these farmers and their families across the globe remain dedicated to the craft of coffee farming. They continue to live amongst the hills and forests of lush coffee trees and pluck red berries each year, not only to deliver rich beans to their consumers across the world, but also to leave a legacy for their children and communities.
Now that’s something worth drinking to…
